Science fiction is fascinating and shows unrestricted imagination that contemporary technology can not conquer. When the technology is aggressively progressing, the virtue of human being becomes predominant. The technology acts like double blade sword. It could turn into extremely evil against morality while using in noxious way. “The Island of Doctor Moreau ” by H. G. Well reflects a dark side of a doctor who lives in solitude island doing animal vivisection. It is not sure about his motivation to explore his knowledge in such disgusting experiments. Does he want to generate his own kingdom where creatures made by him to live in? Or he is too intellectual and wants to play a role like GOD to create people ? His purpose is unclear and the island is filled with blood and anguished voices because animals die every day. For intellectual people, the desire for them to conquer the world could be stronger than ordinary people. However, Science used in the way against virtue can turn into extremely evil. An English shipwrecked scientist who was saved by Dr. Moreau experiences beast-man life in this island. Though he comes back to England after Dr. Moreau is killed in a fight, this scientist cannot adopt himself in normal life anymore and choose to live alone eventually. Properly, one is changed his mind being gone through life and death moment. Environment shapes people to consider perceptions in varying angles. “Invisible Man” from H. G. Well is science fiction describing serious stories of a man turned into invisible. For human being, the foundation to build up relationship is eyewitness. We believe in what we see. Therefore, “invisible man” does not belong to human community anymore and he suffers the issue of identification. his/her personal philosophy is vulnerable if identification does not exist. Therefore, “invisible man” starts to do the thing he cannot do while he was being seen. His behavior is mimic theft’s behavior doing the things in secret. Science fiction explores our imagination and reflects the issues in our society; only the combination of science with virtue is beautiful.
