Some of the earliest ideas about nanotechnology were laid out by Nobel Prize laureate professor Richard Feynman's 1959 lecture entitled, "There's Plenty of Room at the Bottom". In this lecture, Feynman justified what he believed was the inevitable development of concepts and technologies that underlie the nanoworld and presented his predictions about future discoveries in nanoscale-level science and engineering.
