Food in LA
American food. My favourite food is In-n-out Burger and Jack In The Box. Of course, I like Mcdonald’s as well.
Mcdonald’s Big Mac combo is less than 6 dollars. The good thing about the Big Mac is that it tastes the same everywhere. The quality is consistent around the world. I can have the same Big Mac in Taiwan, Seoul and LA.
The In-n-out burger is bigger than the Big Mac, and the same price. Therefore, I really love it because of its bigger size and it’s delicious.
Jack In The Box has more variation in bread / bun - they offer croissants, pancakes, bagels. The meat is juicy and the fries are not so oily.
Three hamburgers: Big Mac, In-n-out and Jack In The Box have their unique flavor, I love them all!
There are two versions of the Ranch-99 Railroad lunch box. One is with chicken the other with pork. They both cost 5.99 dollars excluding taxes, 6.40 dollars including taxes. The lunch box is quite big and very delicious. The Railroad lunchbox has been part of Taiwanese culture for decades and dates back to the time when many Taiwanese were poor. It was the time of the great expansion of Taiwan’s infrastructure. The blue-collar workers who built the railroad had easy lunchboxes prepared at home. People loved to watch the progress of the railroad and it became popular to eat beside the railroad construction sites. The custom developed and eventually tourists also wanted to enjoy lunch while taking train. Lunchbox vendors sell lunchboxes at each station, but only for about 10 minutes. People who take the train quickly buy their lunchbox and enjoy it on the train. A typical lunchbox contains steamed egg, pork or chicken, pico, and takuan.
The rice roll was the only thing I missed when I was in South Korea. Generally, there are no egg pancakes or rice rolls in South Korea, but they are popular items of the Taiwanese breakfast. They are my favorite meals. The rice roll can be found in Ranch-99 or Si-Hai restaurant. All of them are very classic and fantastic. During the weekend, Ranch-99 sells special rice-rolls made with purple rice. Purple rice contains more nutrition than white or brown rice. I like them all.
Today I tried a burrito from King Taco and a hamburger combo from Carl’s Jr. Both were quite delicious and fresh. The similarities of both restaurants were the kitchen behind the front desk. You can see it when you are waiting. At King Taco, I ordered the Molleja Burrito; the ingredients include rice, beans, chicken and some veggies and special sauce. It is very juicy and contains a lot of nutrients. It cost six and a half dollars for the burrito. The hamburger and fries from Carl’s Jr. were surprisingly delicious. Perhaps it was cooked after ordering. It was the first time I had a hot burger and fries - the melted cheese mingled well with the burger’s meat and together the whole thing tasted wonderful. The french fries were crunchy because they were freshly cooked. Coke was super matched with the burger and fries. I had Starbucks after, but I will try more tacos, pizza and hamburgers in LA.
Since Subway sandwiches have demonstrated consistent flavor from place to place, the company adopts creative plans to attract more customers such as their buy-1-get-1-free breakfast sandwiches promotion. The motivation behind such promotion is the inferior number of customers during morning hours in comparison to noon or evening. Subway constantly implements strategies such as the daily specials which mean lower prices in their sandwiches (3.5 dollars for a 6” sandwich and 5 dollars for a footlong sandwich) or strategies as simple as offering free coffee accompanying any sandwich before 11am. Therefore, when the product quality has reached an optimal level, implementing creative ways to further promote a company’s products are valuable strategies to keep such company in a competitive position and increase its revenue. Quality plus creativity is the recipe to stay in competition, attract customers and meet their needs and ultimately increase the company’s profit.
Project quality control is the most crucial factor/element for us to deliver products and gain the trust of our customers. If I want to have a Big Mac in McDonald’s, I would like to have the same taste of burgers in Taiwan, South Korea, Los Angeles, New York, London, Thailand etc. I don't expect any surprises if I have a Big Mac in different places in the world. Project quality control starts from an ideal, and practical methods are implemented in order to execute it and achieve our goal of good quality. The leverage between quality, cost, and schedule is challenging in terms of product competitiveness and profits. However, high quality is the way to improve our society and enhance people’s quality of life. We are living in an era/a world of high tech and rapid technological development, thus pursuing high quality can keep a company in a competitively advantageous position, and increase its revenue.
Mexican food is very popular in Los Angeles, it is very easy to find classic Maxican food everywhere. Like Asian food, the starch source could be rice, flour and corn. Beans can be easily found, potato, eggs, salsa, avocado etc. Carne asada burrito, Carne asada fries, a variety of taco really makes you mouth water. Los Angeles is teeming with Maxican food, which sells well in the restaurant or in a food truck. Order a combo meal or several tacos on the plate. This is very enjoyable thing.
A sandwich from Subway is indeed delicious. There are more vegetable choices here in California than other places. There are 4 kinds of cheese, American, Swiss, Cheddar and Pepperjack. The lettuce, black olives, red onion, spinach, coriander and tomato are the veggies that I will add in my sandwich. A toasted sandwich makes it even tastier. Sandwiches in Subway remind me my fun times in South Korea. My friend and I used to meet for dinner after work at Subway. The public transportation system is also called subway. We used to describe the different Subway restaurants when we planed to meet for sandwiches. For example, lets meet at the Subway on the subway green-line exit 3. Subway Sandwiches are indeed considered gourmet food around he world.
